Build notes

Finale of the Deep is the free option and often his best, for the ATK it gives. Favonius Sword trades ATK for team Energy, and Sapwood Blade is the pick in a Nefer team from his C2. Heart of the Furnace is the usual set, Noblesse Oblige when he holds the team's buff.

Valeriy main stats and substats

Sands
ATK% > Energy RechargeWhile ER% sands does take priority if Valeriy has not yet met his ER Requirements, they can usually be met in most teams purely with substats, especially at C1+.
Goblet
ATK%
Circlet
ATK% > CRIT RateDue to Valeriy’s hitcount, if using Favonius Sword, he can often build sufficient CRIT Rate from substats. However, at lower refinements, a CRIT Rate circlet can be helpful for consistency.

Substat priority

  1. 1ERBest
  2. 2ATK%
  3. 3CRIT Rate

After reaching his ER Requirements, Valeriy seeks to maximize his ATK for his quill scaling. CRIT Rate is only to be considered if using Favonius Sword.

Energy Recharge targets

How much Energy Recharge Valeriy needs to cast the Burst every rotation, by team and by weapon. Where a target is out of reach, the advice beside it says what to do instead.

  3. #3

Valeriy’s buff is tied to Normal Attack talent and thus takes priority. Talent levels for his Skill improves his sustain while his Burst is his most major source of damage. However, the latter is often minor and the former only requires levels for player comfort.

Valeriy rotation

Valeriy generally starts his rotation with Burst if it is already available. Otherwise, it is cast when available during his field time.

The order in which his Skill and special Charged Attack are used then varies: using his Skill first is mandatory on the first rotation, allows Valeriy to collect his own particles, and allows him to hit maximum Impact Momentum generation from the second rotation onwards. Otherwise, using his Skill after allows him to more easily funnel the particles it generates to an ally, increasing Valeriy’s ER Requirements and delaying being able to reach the maximum Impact Momentum stacks until the third rotation. However, this is often well worth the trade off if paired with an Energy-hungry ally.

Valeriy FAQ

3 questions

What stat does Valeriy scale on?

Valeriy's abilities multiply ATK. That is read from the scaling rows on the Elemental Skill and Burst, not from the ability description, so it reflects what the game actually multiplies rather than what the text mentions.

What is the best weapon for Valeriy?

Finale of the Deep is the closest fit on the data: it is a 4-star sword with ATK as its ascension stat, and its passive acts on ATK.

Which artifact set should Valeriy use?

Heart of the Furnace. Its 2-piece bonus is: ATK +18%. Its 4-piece bonus is: Increases the equipping character's ATK by 12% for 12s when they trigger a Stellar Glimmer reaction or deal Stellar Glimmer reaction DMG. Also increases Stellar Glimmer reaction DMG dealt by all nearby party members by 50%. The above effects can trigger even when the equipping character is not on the field, and he DMG bonus from multiple Artifact Sets with the same name do not stack.
