Genshin 7.2 Livestream Recap: Mitya, Valeriy, Banners, Chronicled Wish and New Area
The Genshin Impact 7.2 Special Program aired on 23 October 2026 and confirmed version 7.2, “Hour of Ruin”: Mitya, a new 5-star Electro catalyst, and a Furina rerun open phase 1, with Valeriy, a new 4-star Electro sword user, on both banners; Zibai and Linnea return in phase 2, and a Chronicled Wish brings back five Natlan 5-stars. Pretender sat through the stream the same day and recapped it in under nine minutes. Below is everything the recap shows, read off the stream’s own slides, checked against the site’s data and against what Nixo predicted for 7.2 in September.

Genshin 7.2 Special Program: everything announced, in one table
The Genshin 7.2 livestream confirmed Mitya and a Furina rerun for phase 1, Zibai and Linnea for phase 2, Valeriy as a 4-star on the first two banners, and a Natlan Chronicled Wish with Varesa, Chasca, Xilonen, Mualani and Kinich. The program also showed the next two Archon Quest acts, a new Snezhnaya area called Where Kristall Roots Run Deep, a Teyvat-wide main event that gives a free 4-star, and a short list of quality-of-life fixes.
Pretender’s video is a slideshow of his own screenshots from the stream, with commentary over them. He says plainly that he did not capture every slide (“otherwise this recap would not be a recap”) and that he skipped the Miliastra Wonderland segment that followed. Every name below is read off the stream’s slides rather than the auto captions, which turn Mitya into “Mia” and Xilonen into “Shalon”.

Every slide carries the line “This is under development and is not indicative of the final product”, so numbers in kit text can still move before launch. The table sorts what the stream showed from what Pretender adds on top of it.
| Item | What was shown | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 banners | Mitya (new 5-star Electro catalyst), Furina rerun; Valeriy (4-star) on both | Event Wish Preview slides |

When does Genshin 7.2 come out?
Genshin Impact 7.2 launches on Wednesday 4 November 2026, the date HoYoverse gave for “Hour of Ruin” after the Special Program. Pretender’s recap does not say the date out loud; it comes from the coverage of HoYoverse’s announcement, and it matches the 42-day cadence the site has used since 7.0. The 7.1 phase 2 banners, Skirk and Escoffier, close on 3 November, the day before.
Nixo’s roadmap estimated the same day back on 30 September, from the cadence alone, in our 7.2 to 7.8 banner roadmap. The stream has now turned that estimate into a date. The banners page carries the countdowns once the times are posted.
Genshin 7.2 banners: Mitya and Furina, then Zibai and Linnea
Phase 1 of Genshin 7.2 runs Mitya’s debut banner, “Myriad Patterns Unfold”, beside Furina’s “Chanson of Many Waters”; phase 2 reruns Zibai, “Harmonious Abundance”, and Linnea, “Ya-hoho! Compendium”. Pretender stresses that Mitya is “the only new 5-star” of the update.

This is exactly what Nixo predicted for 7.2 in September, down to the phase 2 pair, and it settles the argument the roadmap article mentioned: Neuvillette was the other Hydro name people expected, and Varka had been tipped for phase 2. Neither is on a 7.2 banner. Furina’s gear and teams have not changed for the rerun; her build and best teams still apply.
Valeriy is the 4-star on rate-up. The slide words it this way: Valeriy “will also appear in the event wishes ‘Myriad Patterns Unfold’ and ‘Chanson of Many Waters,’ in which he will receive a huge drop-rate boost”. Pretender’s comment: pull for Mitya and “you can get a good amount of Valeriys, or you can get none, because this game sucks”.

Mitya’s signature weapon is new: Starsealed Edict, a 5-star catalyst, on the phase 1 weapon banner. Pretender’s warning about that banner is about its partner weapon: anyone without Furina at C4 or above will be “suffering” if they pull there, which reads as Furina’s own signature, Splendor of Tranquil Waters, sharing the banner. The second weapon’s name is not on any slide in the recap, so treat that pairing as Pretender’s reading until the wish notice is out.

Phase 2 is the Lunar-Crystallize core in one place, as Pretender puts it: Zibai as the damage dealer, Linnea as the main support, with Columbina still needed to complete the team. The site’s tier list agrees with the pairing: Zibai is T0 among on-field characters and Linnea T0 among damage supports. The best Zibai teams page shows the line-ups.

Genshin 7.2 Chronicled Wish: five Natlan 5-stars
The 7.2 Chronicled Wish features Varesa, Chasca, Xilonen, Mualani and Kinich, and the slide says “All of these can be chosen as your designated 5-star character”. The weapon side offers their signatures: Vivid Notions, Astral Vulture’s Crimson Plumage, Peak Patrol Song, Surf’s Up and Fang of the Mountain King.

Nixo did not see this coming: the roadmap placed the next Chronicled Wish in 7.4, with a Liyue cast for Lantern Rite. The recap does not say which phase the Natlan Chronicled Wish runs in, so the site leaves the phase open until the notice.
For Pretender it is “the hypest part of the stream” after the story. He has been stuck on a C1 Xilonen since her last rerun, so he is pulling for C2, and he walks through his losing 50/50 scenarios: losing to Mualani or Varesa, whom he does not own, would be fine; losing to Chasca “would be really depressing”, and he does not want another Kinich. On the site’s tier list Xilonen sits at T1 among supports, Varesa, Mualani and Kinich at T1 on-field, and Chasca at T2, which is the order of his hopes, more or less.
Who is Mitya? The kit the 7.2 stream showed
Mitya is a 5-star Electro catalyst user who turns every Superconduct the party triggers into Stellar-Conduct, and who can either buff that reaction or deal its damage himself. His card on the banner calls him “An exceptionally ingenious energy specialist and a master of the fine art of ‘schedule-dodging’”; his in-game title is Rules Set at Naught.
The Character Highlights slide, word for word: “Mitya can both enhance Stellar-Conduct reaction DMG and deal substantial damage himself, making him a versatile addition to Stellar-Conduct teams. He can adapt to different combat roles to suit the party’s needs. When Mitya is in the party, Superconduct reactions triggered by any party member are converted into Stellar-Conduct reactions.”

The role switch is the Detection Core, deployed by pressing or holding the Elemental Skill. Steady State “periodically deals Stellar-Conduct reaction DMG and grants Elemental Mastery to all party members after triggering Stellar-Conduct reactions”. Overloaded “allows Mitya to perform consecutive special Charged Attacks that deal significant Stellar-Conduct reaction DMG”. In other words, a tap or a hold decides whether he is a support or the carry. The Skill itself is named Principle: Variable Detection on screen.

Pretender adds two things the slides only hint at: an off-field effect that “follows the enemies” and keeps dealing damage, and an exploration passive, Energy Catalysis, that breaks the crystal walls of the new area without the usual mechanic. He also warns that streams never show the whole kit. Mitya’s full talent text will be on his character page when 7.2 data is out; the site has no record for him yet.
Who is Valeriy? The new 4-star Electro sword user
Valeriy is a 4-star Electro sword user who shields the active character and buffs their Electro damage from off-field, with stronger buffs in Stellar-Conduct teams. Pretender was surprised by the weapon: Valeriy “screams greatsword”. His card reads “Commander of the Special Assignments Battalion. A soldier skilled at protecting key personnel and keeping operations on track.”

The Impact Momentum paragraph is the core of it: Valeriy “can consume a special energy called ‘Impact Momentum’ to gain stacks of a buff that increases the active character’s Electro DMG. This buff is further enhanced while he is in the Radiance: Stellar-Conduct state.” Put simply, he is built to sit beside Mitya.
His utility passive, Tundra Operational Intelligence, gives increased rewards when he is dispatched on a Snezhnaya Expedition for 20 hours, Nod-Krai excluded. His Elemental Burst is Focused Fire: Lightning Salvo; Pretender calls the animations “quite solid for a 4-star”.

Our banner data already listed Valeriy as an Electro character revealed for 7.2, with no rarity or phase. The stream fills both gaps: 4-star, phase 1. The two other Electro supports he will be compared with are Alyosha, T0.5 at C6 on the tier list, and Yae Miko for Stellar-Conduct.
Genshin 7.2 Archon Quest: Hour of Ruin and the gathering of the Archons
7.2 adds two Archon Quest acts, Chapter VII Act V “Hour of Ruin” and Act VI “A Yesterday Sent From Beyond”, and finishing them within the time limit pays Primogems and Mitya’s ascension materials. Pretender puts the Primogem figure at “what, 500”; the slide shows the reward icons without numbers, and some outlets report 560, so treat the exact count as unconfirmed until the notice.
The trailer frames are the reason Pretender expects “one of the most insane patches for story”. The leaders of Teyvat are in one place: Raiden Shogun, Mavuika and Ningguang stand together, and a long table seats more of them, where Pretender spots Kokomi, Nahida and Venti. Between the scenes, the trailer counts down the days remaining. Danica, whom Nixo expects as a playable 5-star in 7.3, appears in the story with a line about the Shadow Realm.
Pretender’s own hype is for a red-haired character he calls “Noi” in the recap, shown talking with Pierro. The name is never printed on screen and nothing in the stream makes him playable in 7.2, so the site does not put a name on him yet.

A new filter in the Guiding Notes sorts characters by faction (Sumeru, Natlan, Snezhnaya – Nod-Krai, Snezhnaya, Other Factions), so Nefer and Jahoda sit under Nod-Krai without scrolling. Pretender also shows a new tab in the Special Recruitment Project: Secret Tsarist Assignment, where you meet Pantalone. Completing Part II gives Envoy of the Tsaritsa’s Decree and a glider, Wings of Starry Winterfrost, “a mark of Snezhnaya’s acknowledgment and recognition”.

Where Kristall Roots Run Deep: the new 7.2 area
The 7.2 map expansion is Where Kristall Roots Run Deep, a Snezhnaya area built around the veins of Kresnik Kristall, with limited-time exploration rewards. The slide’s text: “Even today, the veins of Kresnik Kristall stretch beneath half of Snezhnaya like the sprawling roots of some colossal tree, creeping ever deeper through the earth.”

Pretender counts “up to 400 more Primogems” for exploring it within the time limit. What the clips show: crystal walls that Mitya’s passive can break, a use for the new shotgun gadget on constructs and crystals, a run-through obstacle course, and puzzles where you take control of Paimon. The stream also showed one new enemy and a new boss, which Pretender identifies as the source of Mitya’s ascension material. Pretender’s favourite shot is the dragon ridge: “if I’m doing a video, I might just be chilling around here.”
Genshin 7.2 events: The Grand Defense and a free 4-star
The 7.2 main event is The Grand Defense: Defy the Unjust Judgment, a Teyvat-wide defence where you rescue the injured, hold areas against attacks and dispatch squads, and it ends with a free 4-star of your choice. The slide sets the scene: the seven nations “are now joining forces” to push back disasters breaking out on all fronts.

Characters and NPCs are posted across the map, and you filter where to go. One mode uses a signal detector to find people buried in the snow; another, Tactical Sweep, asks you to fill a Support Squad and a Main Force against requirements such as “Main Force Traits (Geo or Pyro) ≥ 1” before a strike near Serpent’s Head.

The free character is one of eight: Amber, Xiangling, Thoma, Collei, Lynette, Kachina, Aino and Alyosha. Pretender finds it funny that Amber is on the list, and points to Alyosha as the useful one. He is right on the data: Alyosha is the only one of the eight in the tier list’s top bands, T0.5 at C6, so a spare copy is worth more than a new 4-star for most accounts. The other events he flags are a photo event and a block-smashing event; the events page lists them once 7.2 is live.
Genshin 7.2 quality-of-life changes
7.2 fixes specialty tracking, raises the construct limit with batch removal, and brings back Ley Line Overflow with the opponents listed in advance. The tracking fix is the one Pretender is happiest about: tracking a local specialty now prioritises the item you actually chose instead of “a random item that happens to be a specialty”.
Ley Line Overflow returns with double drops on the Blossoms of Wealth and Revelation in Snezhnaya, Nod-Krai and Natlan, and each outcrop now lists who you will fight. The Port Belovodye Blossom of Wealth on screen shows Chimeric Crocohoof and Chimeric Skorp at level 84, and 60,000 Mora among the rewards.

The rest is shorter: new stages in a score-based mode Pretender could not name, new Echoes for Yae Miko and Xilonen, a new album for the Repertoire of Myriad Melodies (“Encounter: Interlude of the Long Journey”), a cosmetic item and a Genius Invokation TCG update.
Genshin 7.2 livestream codes
Pretender’s recap shows no redeem codes, and the 7.2 livestream codes have expired by now. Trackers listed three, each worth 100 Primogems, with a deadline of 26 October 2026; the recap went up on the 23rd without them. Livestream codes only ever last about three days, so the redeem codes page is where to check for any code that still works.
Genshin 7.2: pull or save?
Save if Tsaritsa is the goal: Nixo’s roadmap puts her and Danica together in 7.3 phase 1, and nothing in this stream changes that. A guaranteed 5-star costs up to 180 wishes, or 28,800 Primogems from zero pity.
Pull on phase 1 if you play Stellar-Conduct: Mitya is built for it, and Valeriy comes along at no extra cost. Pull on phase 2 if Lunar-Crystallize is missing from your account, since Zibai and Linnea are both T0 on the tier list. Pretender’s own plan is the Chronicled Wish, for one more Xilonen.
